Kinder verfügen schon bei der Geburt über die wunderbare Erfahrung, wachsen zu können, und verbunden zu sein. Von Anfang an zeigen sie große Lust am Lernen. Mit hoher Motivation alles zu entdecken, zu erforschen und zu konstruieren. Sie möchten die Welt mit allen Sinnen erleben.
Schon Neugeborene kommunizieren von Anfang an, senden Signale, geben uns Hinweise. Oftmals werden diese missverstanden, oder nicht erkannt. Kinder haben vielseitige Ideen, um sich auszudrücken. Sie sind oft sehr geduldig mit uns Erwachsenen. Und sie verzeihen rasch. Das ist etwas, was wir von Kinder lernen können. Sie vertrauen uns oft mehr, als wir ihnen.
Wenn ein Kleinkind in der sogenannten Autonomiephase ist, dann entdeckt es seine eigene Selbstwirksamkeit. Hurra! Es spürt deutlich, dass sein eigenes Tun und Wirken auch Auswirkungen auf die Umwelt hat. Es erkennt mit Freude und Lust, dass es durch seine Aktionen vielschichtige Emotionen und Reaktionen bei den Erwachsenen auslösen kann. Um diese Erfahrung zu vertiefen, wiederholt es sein Handeln immer wieder. Alles was gekonnt sein will braucht nun mal ausdauerndes Training.
Diese Entwicklung dürfen wir Erwachsenen mit Freude begrüßen, wenn es auch sehr viel Geduld erfordert. Später benötigen Kinder diese Fähigkeiten dringend für ihre sozialen Kompetenzen. Jede Entwicklungsphase birgt eigene Herausforderungen, besonders für Eltern. Aber was brauchen Kinder von ihren Eltern?
